About Us

Your custom sliding wardrobe door and storage shelving experts

FormfunctionNT has designed bespoke wardrobe designs and custom storage solutions for Australian home builders and renovators for 20 years.

Director and cabinetmaker Carl Hooper started Wardrobe World in Darwin in 1999 with a belief “it’s better to have a little bit of awesome than a whole lot of average.”

Now called FormfunctionNT, Carl and his partner Sharon Kelly still deliver shelf storage and custom built wardrobes to builders and home renovators in every state.

Their client promise is “we under-promise and over-deliver, and we won’t let you down.”

FormfunctionNT is your first choice for:

  • Scandinavian elfa Storage Solutions and Florida-based ClosetMaid – Both are perfect for the tropics and provide quality, ventilated, made-to-measure wire shelving solutions to organise your home, school, library or small business.
  • Designer wardrobe doors that combine timber, glass and metal. Carl created Sukiya louvre sliding doors and Residential Barn Doors to add luxury and elegance to architecturally designed homes and renovations.
  • Custom made multi-panel sliding doors that give builders and renovators unique wardrobes on a tighter budget.
  • Glass and mirror sliding doors to add space and light to small rooms. They are popular with first home buyers.

Carl Hooper

In 1999 Carl took on the Wardrobe World Franchise and began fabricating and Installing Mirror Sliding Doors and Closetmaid Shelving.

2002 he was given the opportunity to take over an elfa shelving distributorship and seeing the cleverness of the system and the flexibility it provided  his customers he happily took it over.

2004 Carl realised there was a need in the market for more design features in sliding doors, he loved the fact that he could give customers design qualities that co ordinate floors and furniture in the bedroom, laundry, home office etc.

From the Multi Panel Sliding Door, Troppo Doors, Mode Doors he then progressed to including timber elements in sliding doors.

Our Signature doors became popular, first the Infinity and then the Sukiya.

Along the way he has developed extrusions for Dias and his own techniques in combining timber, glass and aluminium.

2009 We changed our name to FormFunctionNT.

Carl loves a challenge  and his ability to construct one off custom designs that may not ever get built again.  …and being part of designs that incorporate interesting materials.  He is passionate about up cycling old timbers and using them as a design feature in his doors.  He believes this is a win win situation the client has a story behind their doors and he is helping the environment.
